In a recent video, we explored the innovative Reap Weaponries Scy bullpup chassis paired with the Brownells BRN-180 Gen2 upper receiver. This combination transforms a standard AR-15 into a compact, maneuverable firearm without sacrificing barrel length or performance.
The Scy chassis is designed to integrate seamlessly with mil-spec AR-15 lower receivers and standard-sized handguards, allowing for a customizable bullpup configuration. It supports both buffered and bufferless upper receivers, offering flexibility in build options. Notably, the chassis relocates the trigger 9.75 inches forward, resulting in a length of pull of 13.5 inches when no stock system is attached. This design maintains the benefits of a longer barrel while reducing the firearm's overall length, enhancing maneuverability.
When combined with the Brownells BRN-180 Gen2 upper, the Scy chassis offers a streamlined and efficient shooting experience. The BRN-180 features a side-charging handle, which, as noted by Mud Lake Ranch, complements the bullpup design by providing easier access to the charging mechanism. This setup also allows for the use of bufferless systems, further reducing the firearm's overall length.
Our video review highlights the Scy's ability to maintain the AR-15's modularity while converting it into a bullpup configuration. The chassis's design ensures that the firearm remains balanced and easy to handle, making it suitable for various shooting scenarios. Additionally, the Scy is compatible with a range of calibers and barrel lengths, providing shooters with numerous customization options
